The Brenau University Liberal Education program requirements are designed to provide students with a broad Liberal Arts education in their lower division coursework.
The five Core Competencies, required to be addressed and assessed in every undergraduate major at Brenau, were designed to ensure a Brenau University undergraduate education prepared graduates in the key liberal arts skills of writing, speaking, critical thinking, global awareness and creative/artistic expression within the context of each major, even in the case of transfer students who were not exposed to the Brenau Liberal Education curriculum. Both the Liberal Education program and the Core Competencies support the mission and strategic plan of the University and its Four Portals Learning model.
